Q: Where are you in relation to my resort?
Q: Should I bring anything?
A: Print off your map so you can find us easily. Also bring a pen. Everything else at The Little Mexican Cooking School is provided - all ingredients, a recipe/workbook, towel, utensils and a Little Mexican Cooking School apron (yours to keep!)
Q: What if there aren't enough students on the day I'm hoping to take a class?
A: We will re-schedule a class if it doesn't meet the 6 participant minimum. Before doing that we see if we can shift folks from another class the same week so that we can meet our minimums in both classes.
Q: Are the classes demonstrations, or will I have a chance to cook?
A: The classes at The Little Mexican Cooking School are a combination of watching and "hands-on," so... don't be shy!
Q: Are the classes taught in Spanish or English?
A: All classes at The Little Mexican Cooking School are taught in English. But, with our local teachers, you'll also get a smattering of cuisine Spanish, thrown in for good measure.
Q: When should I arrive?
A: All classes at The Little Mexican Cooking School begin promptly at 10:00 am. Feel free to arrive 10 minutes beforehand, when coffee and pastries will be served. If you eat breakfast before coming, eat light!
Q: Can I keep my cell phone with me?
A: By all means keep it with you, but like other theater spaces, we ask that you shut off your phone during class so as not to disturb other students. Feel free to use your phone during our breaks.
Q: My companion hates to cook. But he loves to eat! Is there a way he can join us for the meal?
A: Certainly! For a nominal fee, spouses, or friends may also join us for lunch, depending on space at the table. Please inquire as to availability.
Q: What if I'm a vegetarian or have other food restrictions?
A: By design, we can't possibly cater to a variety of food restrictions. We also believe that "When in Rome do as the Romans do."
So, come and enjoy what the school has to offer. Since several dishes are prepared each class, there will be a variety from which to choose.
Common ingredients used at the school are: pork, lard, corn, tomatoes, beans, beef, fish, avocado, pumpkin seeds and all manner of fresh and dried chiles. If you are strongly allergic to any of these, check with us before booking your class.
If you have limitations, it's possible to book a Private Class, where you will be able to help tailor-make the menu to suit your needs. The fee for a private class is $600 USD.
Q: What about tipping?
A: No tipping is necessary. Consider yourself at a party among friends, where tipping would be unnecessary. On the other hand, if you are particularly appreciative of the treatment you received from our staff, you may certainly leave them a small gratuity.
